Quando si imbatte in un immigrato clandestino dalla pelle nera come la sua, il piccolo Enguerrant non ha dubbi: è il suo padre
biologico! I genitori adottivi del bambino, pur di non deluderlo, si lasceranno coinvolgere nell'avventurosa fuga del clandestino per raggiungere l'Inghilterra. Non mancheranno varie vicissitudini e sorprese, tra cui un rocambolesco funerale.
