Anni 50. Nella tranquilla cittadina di Suburbicon, gli abitanti sono persone normali che rappresentano il lato migliore e peggiore della natura umana. Tra questi c'è la famiglia Lodge, apparentemente perfetta, che non esita a farsi prendere la mano dal ricatto, dalla vendetta e dal tradimento dopo aver subito un pericoloso attacco nella propria abitazione...
